It has now been 5 years since gyrodactylus salaris was eliminated from the river Vefsna.

In these years the salmon has had rich opportunity to reproduce, both under and especially above Laksfors; and the natural reproduction has been offered a helping hand by the administration of the river by placing boxes with salmon eggs on the riverbed all over the more than 140 Km. long river. And I might add, that also the seatrout has been offered increased opportunities to reproduce, since more than 1000 seatrout each year in the time since the first attempt with rotenon in 2010 has been set loose above Laksfors. Playing the prophet I claim, that this year will be a year with many small salmon – plenty for all fishermen at the river – since the first of those being hatched in Vefsna certainly will return already!
